Repiratory System Description
Your respiratory system is made up of the organs in your body that help you to breathe! Such as: Lungs, which you wouldn't be able to breath without.
Fun Facts
- Your right lung is slightly larger than the left!
- We lose half a litre of water a day through breathing. This is the water vapour we see when we breathe onto glass.
- The breathing rate is faster in children and women than in men.
- When you are sleepy or drowsy the lungs do not take enough oxygen from the air. This causes a shortage of oxygen in our bodies. The brain senses this shortage of oxygen and sends a message that causes you to take a deep long breath - a YAWN
- Your lungs help you to breath!
- The function of the lungs is when air enters the body through the mouth or nose. In the nose, thick hairs lining the nostrils prevent small objects from entering the nasal cavity. This cavity is lined with cells that produce mucus.
